Girls Day in Seattle

Friday Jordan, Sheryl and I (we captured Liz at lunch) all took the day off to head to Seattle to dress shop. First stop was for the bridemaids and the rest of the day was for Jordan the bride to be. So many amazing dresses to choose from but I think she found the one. It isn't shown here of course because we wouldn't want to spoil the surprise but I can tell you it is AMAZING! She looks absolutely stunning and you can tell it is the one. Here are few snaps I stole from Sheryl. As you can see much champagne was involved so you know we had a fabulous time.

The next day

The next day before we headed home Danny and my Dad couldn't resist heading down to the lake for a ski ride. Because it was such a gorgeous day us ladies couldn't resist tagging along. Here are couple snaps of Lyla just being adorable. I think it won't be long and that lifevest is going to be a permenant fixture. She has no fear. And she just loves the boat as you can see she is pretty confident driving all by herself and she climbed a step for the first time today...watch out!

First Night Away

Danny and I spent our first night away from Lyla. For those of you that have kids I am sure you've realized that the hardest part of leaving your babies is not their fear of you leaving but your own. Lyla was of course fine with Grandma and Grandpa. I was the one that was a mess. I think I did pretty well and it was a good warm up for November when we are going to be gone for a week. Of course we have to thank Grandma and Grandpa Stajgr for making it so seamless. Danny and I really did have a good time. Danny's parents got us a nights stay at Timberline Lodge, thus the destiniation for this adventure, for Christmas. Some people might be excited about the skiing or just having an evening alone. I was most excited about the sleep. And I got a good one. First time in almost nine months someone didn't wake me up in the middle of the night. It was wonderful!!!

Happy Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day this year Lyla and I did a little something special (and all by ourselves) for the family. Using my knowledge of illustrator and type I created an invite with the word Love that we sealed with Lyla's hand print as the "O" (in red paint of course). Her first art project. She didn't know quite what to think of the paint but we played around with it. Thankfully we got enough for everyone. Then we headed to Point Defiance park with some red balloons and a red tutu that I had made and had ourselves our own photoshoot. She was still under the weather so I didn't get as many smiling shots as I would have if she was 100% but I think they turned out. We of course lost the balloons mid shoot. Lyla let go and I wasn't quick enough to chase them down before they floated away. It was pretty comical. I hope you enjoy these as much as we do. Happy Valentine's Day! :)

First Family Bowl

Tuesday night the savage family headed to Narrows Lanes to Celebrate Adam Moll's 30th Birthday. It was Lyla first time bowling and she had a blast. We were amazed how great she did being passed around from person to person but she loved it. Especially all the other kids that were there. Danny even won most strikes in a row. Thank you to Jordan for hosting such a great party and Sheryl Brown for the photos (I stole them from facebook, we didn't have a camera with us).

Valentine's Day Challenge

If you haven't been following Designfart we've been up to some fun stuff this week designing Valentine's cards. I am not a huge fan of illustration but these little challenges we do everyday have really pushed me (almost to a point where I look forward to it). These of course are my cards for the week but you should check out the others. Tomorrow it is "I'm Nuts for you" ha ha should be fun and silly. :)

Looking for the perfect dress

Yesterday Lyla and I had the pleasure of being able to join my dear friend Jordan to look for wedding dresses. Because my mom made my dress (which was amazing and I have absolutely no regrets) I never got to have this experience. So it was a real treat for me to share it with someone else. There were so many dresses and so many gorgeous ones. I of course out of respect for the bride, especially if any of these are the one, am only going to post a detail shot but I can tell you she looked gorgeous in all of them. In case you need a little background I am a bridesmaid in Jordan's wedding this coming November. The wedding is in Mexico. You might remember a few posts back Danny and I hosted an engagement party for the happy couple. Anyway we are so excited! Can you say...FUN! It will be our first big trip together with out Lyla. That is if I can do it. I haven't even spent one night away from her yet so who knows how I am going to do this but that is the plan. The rest of the pics are Lyla stealing the show at the end. She just couldn't resist all the mirrors. ha ha.

What a bunch we are?

So our weekend was filled with sickness. Lyla was sick. I got sick. And then late Sunday night Danny started to feel the bug coming on. Oddly enough that didn't seem to hold the Savage family down. We went for a walk Saturday to Rielda's (aka Grandma Savage's), played with Ruby, Wriley and Ella, went to the Seattle boat show, came back to Rielda's for dinner with the whole fam...Sunday had a super bowl party with Katie and Damien. The photos above are a few snaps courtesy of Katie from our little super bowl party. A little mushy I know for Super Bowl but Lyla was loving the snuggles. And I hate to admit it so was I. Thankfully I think we are all starting to be on the med but what a bug. (Sadly Katie and Damien are not...they acquired what ever we were passing around. Sorry guys!)

First 24hr Stomach Bug

Lyla had her first stomach bug. It came and went so fast it is almost not worth mentioning but for mom and dad even just one day feels like forever. Lyla started out yesterday morning, as normal, happy as can be. Danny got her ready and into the carseat when all of a sudden.... "PLAAAA".... all over. I wasn't there to see it but from the aftermath that was left behind him cleaning it up I can tell it was a mess. As gross as it is to repeat he said there was a puddle in the carseat because there was so much throw up. Who would have thought so much could come out of one tiny person. She didn't have a temperature and she still was in good spirits so Danny took her to daycare knowing that one of us most likely was going to be picking her up in the next couple hours. Amazingly she made it through but from what I hear she didn't eat much and what she did came right back up. Even once more in the carseat when I picked her up. What a mess and you can't do anything. The rest of the evening was actually pretty good. She was still not up to par, doing more snuggling and napping with mommy then normal (which I hate to admit I loved) but she keep everything down and even ate a little. She still has a nasty cough (which she had before) but I think we are past our first stomach bug (at least I hope, I have my fingers crossed). My poor pumpkin.

UPDATE: Well we weren't past it. I spoke to soon. Lyla didn't even make it to daycare. She threw up in the car so I went home to take care of her and to top it off I lost my dinner last night so I hate to say it but I think I have the bug to. Ugh!

Hello Shopping Cart!

First shopping cart ride today and there is going to be no turning back. Usually I have Lyla in her car seat (which mind you is getting beyond heavy now that Lyla is weighing over 20 pounds). Since the car seat just wouldn't do today and I had more to get at costco I took her out and placed her inside the infamous metal seat. She LOVED it. I didn't get the best shot because I felt a little awkward being "that mom" inside the store but I did manage to at least get one. You can't see the joy on her face but I can tell we won't be bringing in the carseat any longer.
