Grandpa & Lyla

I couldn't resist posting just one more from our fun at Mint Lake this weekend. This photo came from my mom and is of Lyla and my Dad. Such a great moment. I can't get enough of these. Lyla just loves her grandparents so much (and so do I). Thank you Mom and Dad for a wonderful weekend.

Mint Lake Open

This weekend we headed south to my old home turf, Mint Lake. It is always the highlight of the ski season for me and this weekend didn't disappoint. The weather didn't turn out to be quite as hot as the forecast perdicted but it was still nice (and no rain which was HUGE bonus). As you will see from the pics not the entire weekend was perfect. Among all the great jumps Danny had there was one nasty one and he is paying the price. Quite a bruised butt but it didn't stop him from skiing the rest of the weekend. Lyla even tried skiing well not really ski more like saying she wanted to and backing out last minute but we did get her half way into the water. Another day I hope. Later when I asked her why she was scared she said because of the sharks. I don't know what is with water and sharks but I remember being young and swearing I saw one. Obviously, at least in these lakes, there is no way for that to happen. Thankfully she still went swimming with Mommy, Dadding and Grandma which was a lot of fun. Over all a wonderful weekend.

A Little More Fun in the Sun

Since Danny wasn't skiing this weekend in the tournament we were able to head out a little early from Ski Park to get a few things done around the house and prepare for the long week ahead after the holiday (which of course was hard because we were having so much fun but it was a must). Needless to say most of the day was spent cleaning (both inside and out) but after Danny had finished mowing Lyla got to enjoy a little more time in the sun and run through the sprinklers which were a must after our few days of beautiful (hot) weather. A perfect end to a perfect weekend.

Ski Park Lake

This weekend we went to one of my favorite lakes, Ski Park. It is my favorite, for one, because of their amazing hospitality (as you can see here from this custom camping site sign made for us by Cathy Vanderflute) and two, their beautiful site which includeds a wonderfully groomed golf course. There aren't many pictures because we were having too much fun but I thought I would share a few just to get an idea of what a wonderful place it is.

A Beautiful Morning

One of things I appreciate most about getting to work at 6am is the quiet mornings in the city when the sun hasn't quite touched every building and everything is peaceful and calm. Today is one of those mornings. Although it was extra hard to get up and going after the 4th, a day like this, makes it all that easier. Good Morning Tacoma.

4th of July with the Savages

In tradition we spent 4th of July at the Savages in Tacoma. It was a great day full of relaxation, fun, silliness, family and friends. We didn't make it to the fireworks but it didn't matter. It was a perfect day. Hope we have many more years exactly the same.

Warman Lake

This weekend at Warman Lake may not have been a dry one (sadly we haven't had one of those yet) but it was still a lot of fun especially for Lyla who got to go in the hot tub, swim with Grandpa and Daddy after they skied, build sand castles, look for shells and make tons of new friends. We did have a few meltdowns but who can blame her when there was so much going on. Danny also skied great which is even better (especially for the drive home) and we got to see a lot of old friends including Amy who now lives in Alaska and the Herder family with their adorable twin boys. I am keeping my fingers crossed this coming weekend the summer finally hits when we head to Ski Park.
