Anything goes when Grandma is in Town

It is aways a wonderful treat when Grandma comes to town...especially for Lyla who pretty much gets away with anything...well not anything but she definitely pushes the limits. Sunday afternoon my mom came in town to pay a special visit. She stayed through this morning (well early this morning...so early in fact no one was up). I love it the most when she is town during the week because her and Lyla always pay me a visit at work and we go out to lunch. That is real treat for me since Lyla is usually at daycare during the week. Needless to say we always love seeing her and thank her for coming to stay!

Celebrity Waiters is Fast Approaching

As most of you know I am hosting my very first table at Celebrity Waiters this year. A local event benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I am really excited but getting nervous. The event is fast approaching and there is so much to do. Seen here is a little letter I designed specificly for my guests to be inserted in the invite which went out Friday. I know i've said this before but if there is anyone that is interested in getting involved, being a guest at my table or donating something for the silent or live auction please let me know. All help is very much appreciated. More to come....

Girls Weekend!!!

This weekend was Jordan's Bacholerette Weekend. In honor of Jordan and her 'other' love (no not Adam) we headed up to Whidbey Island for a girls weekend at her parents beach house. Now I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful it is up there. Jordan and I of course started the weekend a little earlier then the rest of the ladies. First a stop to Savi Day Spa for pedis (amazing!), then to Nordstroms for a little shopping (both of which put us a little behind schedule but who cares when you are having fun and Nordstroms is having a shoe sale). Once we got on I-5 past the traffic, on the ferry, to the island...we drove straight to the beach house. Of course the first thing we did was get the cocktails going. I had all the fixings to make Cosmos so that was the drink of choice. Saturday we got up late, got ready and headed out for brunch at my favorite little breakfast spot. The most amazing Eggs Benedict and Mimosas in a Mason Jar. We all had a fabulous time there. From breakfast we started right into the wine tasting and shopping. That took up most of our day. As the evening approached we headed home to drink more wine and have an amazing dinner of Lasana (made my Jordan's wonderful mother Kari). That evening we all get a little crazy. Lots of stories shared, a little trespassing so we could pretend we lived in the big houses, followed by a little late night swimming in the sound and of course TONS of laughter, tears and more wine. Sunday was a bit more mellow a lot of ladies left early so we cleaned and then Jordan, Jen and I headed out for a little more shopping (you know we can never get enough of that) and lunch. It was a perfect way to end the weekend and for me this is a memory I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I had the BEST time. I love you Jordan.

Indulging

As most of you know I am a shopper. Not as much of a shopper but a shoe obsessed collector. You have all most likely seen my closet but if you haven't here it is. Needless to say I proudly pass on this tradition now to the my daughter just as it was passed on to me from my mother (although she wouldn't admit it but just ask her when she bought her last pair of shoes...something tells me it wasn't that long ago). After learning the hard way that infants are big shoe wearers I have slowed down on my shoe shopping but now that Lyla can't get enough of shoes here I come... Nordstroms I am on my way! They just unveiled a ton of amazing little shoes. Here is just one pair we snagged the other day. Lyla LOVES them.

A fabulous Sunday

Sunday morning the three of us got up early to make it to the zoo when it opened. Well we didn't wake up to early because it is the weekend after all. We made breafast, got ready and then headed out. It was a perfect morning together. We saw all the animals included a few I have seemed to have missed the last couple times I've been there. For what ever reason I always miss the polar bears and the sharks. We also got to see the new red wolf exhibit. It is still in construction but pretty cool just the same. After the zoo we headed over to Aunt Katie and Damien's house to watch the Seahawk game. Now I am no where near a football fan, in fact I had a couple naps while we were there, but the snacks (and company of course) were amazing! I think the whole family was rolling home. What a fabulous Sunday!

What I've been up to

So I realized I haven't really posted anything about my life outside of Lyla and there has been a lot going on. Sometimes I think I have two different lives (my home life as a mom and wife and business life as creative director and designer). As most of you know I am back with Hemisphere Design & Marketing. I worked for Adam Welch when I first moved to Tacoma in 2005. I was then scouted by Premier Media Group from there and stayed with them for over 4 years as their creative director. After so long it just felt like a time for a change. I've remain friends with Adam thru the years and decided I wanted to come back. Thankfully Adam wanted me back. Never the less there has been a lot going on since then. We moved into a brand new space (not exactly a brand new building but we love being here). We had a huge Open House. You can see all the pics I took on our website. And we've grown. We have quite the team now. These are some pictures Jeff Hobson took of the crew and space. Needless to say I am loving it! This feels like home.

A Day with Aunt Katie

Since I don't have any brothers and sisters my friends have become my sisters and in turn Lyla's Aunts. Of course she has her real Aunt Alicia (Danny's sister) but she also has my two bestest friends, Aunt Jordan and Aunt Katie. I feel so lucky to have such amazing friends. Yesterday Aunt Katie had the day off and instead of having a day to herself she asked if she could spend the day with Lyla (Katie is also Lyla's godmother). It was so special for her to do that and I know Lyla loved it. These are some pictures of their day. Super cute!

Labor Day Weekend

I have so many photos from this weekend I don't even know where to begin so for the first time I think you might just have to go to facebook to see the rest. We all had such a great weekend I don't know where to to begin there either. The weather wasn't the best but it was nothing like last year so can't complain. Danny set a personal best in jump (134ft) which was definitely his highlight...that and he won an unplanned slippery slalom competition. Basically we had an amazing time and we are sad tournament season is coming to an end. Thank you all our friends and family that made this weekend so wonderful and memorable. We love you guys!
