Polly the Potato

So Polly is Lyla's new favorite friend. He was given to her by Damien, "Aunt Katie's" beloved. You see Damien works in the food industry and Idaho pototos are one of the companies he represents. Needless to say the potato is a promotion piece and made its way to our house I think more as a joke. Surprise, the joke is on us. Polly, whom Danny named, goes with us every where now. Even when Lyla is crawling around she has it in her mouth (much like a dog) so that he can come to. We are funny about toys in our house because they each seem to take on their own personality. In our house Polly is part Australian, part English (basically like the geico gecko...you just can't tell). Almost everyone mistake Polly for a girl but he's not. Gotta love children and what they attach to. :)

Lake Day!

This morning the three of us headed out to Yelm for our first of the season 'lake day'. It was a blast. Lyla helped her Dad switch over his bindings to a new ski while Grandpa Savage cooked up an afternoon snack. Then we headed down to the dock so the boys could ski. Lyla wore her lifevest for the first time. A present from Grandma and Grandpa Stajgr this Christmas. As you can tell she isn't quite sure about it but she wore it like a champ. All in all in a great afternoon to spend on the water.

A Future Momma in the Making

Last night Lyla and I visited Jordan at Varsity where they were hosting a Heart Tacoma event. I have never been to one before but everyone was so nice and I met some great people. Since we didn't stop in between daycare and this, Lyla crashed... As you can see she just collasped in Jordan's arms. Jordan is going to be a great mom. What a couple of beauties!

New Car Seat

Lyla has moved up to the big girl seat. Well a transitional one anyway. Danny and I purchased this seat a while back. It is made by the same manufacturor of our infant carrier, Maxi Cosi. We love that one already (especially it's sleek look...as you know I am the hater of cutsy baby stuff) so it only seemed natural to continue on with a brand we know and trust. So far she loves it. It sits up higher so she can see out and for mom and dad is way easier to get her in and out. The great part is when she is ready we'll be able to turn it around to face forward with out having to buy a new seat. The bad part is it is way to big for Danny's car so we have continued using the infant carrier in there until we figure out what to do. It might be better to have two seats anyway....moving those things are a pain.

Missing Grandma and Grandpa already

This last weekend we visited Grandma and Grandpa Stajgr, well Lyla and I did, Daddy was home refing a hockey tournament. It had been a while since Lyla had seen her grandparents so it was a much deserved visit. She had a blast. She got into a ton of mischief of course but what better place then Grandma and Grandpa's house. These are a few photos courtesy of Grandma. Miss them already :)

Someone is finally feeling better

After a week of recovery Lyla is finally getting back to her old self. We still have quite a few more days of amoxicillion but I think it is safe to say we are past the worst...that is for her... Mom and Dad on the other hand...after night after night of no sleep are the plague ones now. Hopefully we'll be getting over this bug quicker then she did. Oh and if you happen to notice the shinner on her head I have to say don't worry we are not harming our child. This boo-boo was Daddy induced but only because he taught Lyla to climb the stairs this week while Momma was conveniently at work. Turns out you can't turn your eyes one second anymore. She ventured up the stairs all alone the next day and fell back down. Thankfully it wasn't worse. We have an adventurer on our hands. Fearless.

Year One...the year of sickness

Everyone says that if your child is in daycare the first year is always the worst for sickness and maybe they are right. I just hope by year two her immune system will be so strong we won't be getting sick anymore. Our weekend started with a case of pink eye. For those of you that haven't had it be glad. I have been cursed with it on more then one occassion even now as an adult and poor Lyla has years ahead of her of the pink eye curse. Thankfully we were able to get that under control right away with some eyes drops from the doctor. Then last night fever struck. We thought she wasn't sleeping because of the time change but both Danny and I knew better. She was sooo hot. This morning I took her temp and there is was 100.6...I am going to try to get into the doctor today. It is like this kid can't get a break. Ugh!

Update 3/16/10: Looks like our pumpkin had good reason to be so miserable. Doctor said that she has a horrible ear infection which he classified as level 4 (don't know what that means). He also said we are probably going to go from bad to worse before we get better (which we experienced last night...Lyla didn't sleep almost at all...Danny and I even drove around the city of Tacoma at 1am trying to help her catch some zzzzs). She is still very contagious so we have been taking turns being home with her. Me yesterday, Danny today, Me tomorrow. The worst is being so helpless. All we want to do is fix it and we can't. Please keep her in your prayers and hope the amoxicillion kicks today so we can all get some zzzzs.

425 Field Trip

Yesterday the production team (aka "The ladies of the office plus Ethan") had a little field trip. It isn't to often that we step away from our computers and adventure into the world. Today it was 425, our first stop The Bravern. While at the Bravern we went into Trophy Cupcakes (delicious), Anthropologie (my favorite store), DNA 2050, Tory Burch & Neiman Marcus. We had so much fun at the Neiman Marcus that we decided to head back later on in the day instead of braving the evening traffic which are the pictures at the end with our new makeup guru, Esteban Linares. He was wonderful and gave us all a ton of amazing tips. We'll see how well I do. I tried some of them this morning but nothing is like having a professional do it. As you know I have always dubbed myself as "makeup retarded." I am sad the photo didn't turn out better of all of us but that is what you get when someone else is taking the photo. :) After our morning at The Bravern we headed to lunch at Barrio. They had invited us there months ago and we finally were taking them up on their offer. It was delicious! I had the Tecate Batter Cod Tacos. AMAZING! Everyone had something different and we all shared. Not a bad meal at our table. From there we headed to Woodinville to Chateau Ste Michelle for a wine tasting and tour. Lets just say we were spoiled yesterday. If you haven't been to Chateau Ste Michelle it is a must visit. I have always been a fan of their Chardonnay but they make so much more. All in all it was a fabulous day and I think we all feel refreshed this morning (and a little prettier). Note: The first three photos, if you couldn't guess, are taken at Trophy Cupcake, the second of us being silly, the third two are Chateau Ste Michelle and of course the last two are of us ladies (Lisa, Me, Elisa with Esteban & Sara) at Neiman Marcus.

One Fun One...

I couldn't resist putting just one more photo up. This was taken at dinner. Our dear friend Nick put Danny's sunglasses on Lyla...She thought she was pretty cool. Gotta love the superstar behind the shades.

Daddy plays some Hockey

Tonight we headed to Kent to watch Daddy and Grandpa Savage play in their annual Alumni game. We invited Damien and Katie with us this year so it was a lot of fun and of course Lyla's Cousins, Aunt and Grandma were there as well. It was only when Daddy got into a fight with one of the other players that it got a little crazy. Thankfully it ended civilly and as you can see Lyla is really into the fight and then praying for a happy ending (at least that is what is looks like from the pictures). After the game we went to dinner. We usually head back to the Showare center to watch the Thunderbirds play but Katie got a horrible headache so Lyla and I took her home while the boys proceeded on with the night. It was probably for the best to since Lyla sooo needed a nap and I don't think it was going to happen with a 1,000 screaming fans. :)

My Beauty

It is a gorgeous day so the light is just right in the house for photos. I am sure we'll have more to post later as we are heading to an alumni hockey game in a bit where Grandpa Savage and Dad will be playing but for now I had to share these two shots. Should be a great weekend. Hope everyones is just a fabulous.

To the Zoo!

Today Katie, Lyla and I went to the Point Defiance Zoo. Danny and I are now members thank you to Dan and Rielda. It was a christmas present this year to Lyla. She had a great time and so did we. I hate to say it but I think it was the first time I had been there during the day. Danny and I have been several times for Zoobilee (a fundraiser for the zoo) and then once for Zoolights but I have never been during the day. It was great. All sorts of animals as you will see from a couple of my snaps. I don't think Lyla knew quite what to think but she took every moment in. Thank you Katie for joining us!

Feeding Herself

Yesterday we hit another milestone. Lyla feed herself. Not the most graceful mind you but she fed herself non the less. It was pretty comical. What was even more comical was replaying this video to her. She goes nuts. She definitely knows who she is and she thinks she is hilarious. I wish we had two cameras just to capture that. As always hope you enjoy :)

p.s. there is a video there...just not showing on the start screen.

We've become a ".com"!

If you haven't noticed already thesavvys.blogspot.com has become its own ".com". Nothing is really changing and you can still find us at the same url but you can also find us a http://www.thesavvys.com/. Simple and all our own. And of course fun! I didn't even know you could do this until I saw another blogspotter without the blogspot on her address. I immediately did a little research and low and behold it was as easy as 1,2,3....well not that easy...a phone call did need to be made to godaddy.com where I bought our url to get it set up but now that I am, I am pretty excited. Yeah!

Grandpa Savage Turns 50!

Sunday afternoon Danny, Lyla and I headed over to Grandma Savage's house to celebrate Grandpa Savage turning 50. It was a fun birthday dinner especially since we hadn't seen the family in a while. Lyla of course love, love, loves her cousins so she had a blast playing with them and trying to keep up. It won't be long and she is going to chasing them on her own two feet.
