After Playdate, Playdate for Mom

After our playdate I left to have a little playdate of my own with my other Bestie Jordan. We try to have these at least once a month (more if we can manage it but we both have pretty full schedules). It is a pretty standard night for us but I love it. Dinner and a Movie. Last night as always we headed over to Uptown Gig Harbor. It is our fav spot because they have a 21 and over theater where we can have a bottle of wine with our movie and it is always empty and their seats are oh so cozy. Dinner was at the Green House, a first for both of us. The food was delicious! The movie was Black Swan. A little dark for me (I am pretty sure I am going to have nightmares for the rest of the month) but very good. A perfect day!

Being Best Friends takes Practice

So yesterday I learned that just because Mommys are best friends doesn't mean their children are going to be or at least not right away (or without a little practice and maybe patience). Sarah and Claire Stockstad have been in town over the holidays (they live in Florida currently) and yesterday was the first time we were able to see them. We have brought Lyla and Claire together several times now (you might remember over the last year and a half a picture or two of these two beauties together) and each time it is...wellll.... lets just say it has been difficult. Lyla takes on the personality of this meek, shy...lack of a better term...push over and Claire takes on the dominate role. In the end they are both in tears and fighting over everything. Both Sarah and I are devestated because we were sure these two were destined to be BFFs. I mean their mommys were prego at the same time, went through everything at the same time...even gave birth to our daughters two weeks apart. Of course this doesn't mean we are going to give up hope. Thankfully they left yesterday on a wonderful note...one BIG hug between Claire and Lyla...so there is light at the end of the tunnel. We just wished they were closer so we could see them both more often. I know I sure miss my BFF.

As you can imagine Lyla was spoiled rotten this year at Christmas. Christmas 2010

This year there was a cold going through the Savvy house so unfortunately not many snaps were taken. We started out Christmas Eve with breakfast at our house. A new tradition that doesn't always work out depending on the day of the week and whether or not Danny has to work. It was great to have all the Savage family together and of course all the cousins. It was a bit of a mad house with all the present and wrapping paper flying everywhere but we loved it. That evening we went over to Great Grandma Savage's house to see the rest of the family. We snacked on sandwiches and salads and had a wonderful time. After leaving there we headed south to my parents house. Since we arrived so late it was right to bed but we woke up early the next morning to open our stockings and unwrap all the presents. This year it was mostly about Lyla although we all enjoyed opening ours after. She had a wonderful time but I think she was on overload because many gifts were ignored and some of the time she was focused on oeveryone elses gifts. But she did attached to a couple of her next toys...a jewelry box from Mommy and Daddy (although the ballarina already has taken a beating) and a pop up tunnel given by her Grandma and Grandpa Savage...I know the rest will soon be just as loved. That afternoon we headed to Great Grandma and Grandpa Stajgr's house to see the rest of my family. Dinner as always was wonderful and we had a fabulous time seeing everyone. It was a busy Christmas but a wonderful one. We feel so blessed to have spent the holidays with all our family. Now it is on to New Years...

Lyla's First Modeling Gig

So as we all know Lyla is the cutest...well that may be the mommy in me talking but many have varified this so I think I am liberty to say it. :) Never the less a couple of months ago my dear friend Jordan (Aunt Jordan to Lyla) asked if she could be a model in a shoot for Varsity Grill. You see Jordan is the manager of Varsity and because we visit her so often there Lyla has come to think she owns the place which in some ways dubs her as the mascot. Of course we agreed (Danny wanted $10,000 but we all ignored him). Jeff Hobson shot the photos and I have to say not that I expect anything different from him...they are FANTASTIC...and oh so CUTE! Just had to share.

The Savvys with Santa

Last weekend the Savvy family headed over to Gig Harbor to see Santa. Since this was Lyla's first time we want to becareful not to scar her for life so we posed in the picture with her. We just got the photos back so I thought I would scan it so everyone could see. The santa was at Teaching Toys in Uptown. It is a small store but a perfect setting for Lyla's first go around. There weren't many kids and we didn't have to wait in line for long and of course bonus...he actually looked like the real thing! It was a lot of fun.

Watching Daddy

Sunday afternoon we headed to the rink to watch Daddy play hockey. Since we hadn't seen him much over the weekend we wanted to be sure we got as much family time as possible which meant bundling up and listening to a few choiced words by a few of the players (ear muffs). We had a lot of fun and Danny played great (although he did fall a couple of times...shhhh...don't tell). We did get to see him score a goal which was is always awesome. Sadly the game ended in a tie but it is better then a loss.

Grandma Stajgr's Birthday

Saturday Lyla and I headed down south to celebrate my mom's (aka Grandma Stajgr's) birthday. Her actual birthday is the 20th but we didn't think she'd mind having us a bit early. Since we were both tired from our exciting nights before we took our time in the morning and didn't arrive until the afternoon. Lyla of course was out our drive. I tried to get some better shots of her her expressions but is hard to take snaps and stay on the road. Honestly I wish I could have joined her but someone had to stay awake and get us down there. Daddy stayed home because he had to ref. He was definitely missed.

Hemisphere Holiday Party

Friday night we hosted my company's (Hemisphere Design & Marketing's) Christmas Party. Sadly two of the couples canceled last minute so there was a lot of extra food and re-arranging but Adam (my boss) and his wife Christy, as well as Matt (or IT guy) and his girlfriend Melissa were still able to attend so even with a smaller groups it was a ton of fun. Of course we all ate a ton of food, drank a bit, and had a little gift exchange. We ended the evening with a wii bowling tournament. Danny ended up being the winner but it was between him and Adam in the finish and it was a close game. Gotta love a little competition. Lyla was with her cousins having her first sleep over. She did great and it was fun to have an all adult night.

This was sitting on my desk the monday after Christmas. I guess we have to wish Jeff misses our dinners more often. Can't wait to get home and make some margaritas. Thanks Jeff!

First Christmas Party

A few extra pics added from Jordan's Blog

As mentioned in the previous post Danny and I were at Jordan and Adam's last night celebrating the holidays with three other fabulous couples that we love. I am hoping to snag a few pics from Jordan as I only got a few when we first arrived but we had an amazing time! Everything was just perfect. Jordan and Adam definitely out did themselves and they inspired me for my own holiday party with my co-workers this Friday at my house. I was going to be all casual about it but now over the top I go. :)
