Preschool and Big Decisions

So I don't have a picture for this post other then a snap of the lunch box I purchased for Lyla to mark the occasion. You see Lyla is going to be in Preschool this fall and picking the right one has been quite a process. Today is such a huge moment for our family because we have to make a decision. You see, Lyla was accepted to the Private School, Annie Wright, this spring. It was an incredible honor for us as they are very exclusive and everything about their programs, their teachers, their students is perfect (no better description). Then unfortunately the finacial package arrived and it just wasn't enough. As parents we've went back and forth trying to figure out how to make it work but going their will change our world immensely. During my process I also found Geiger Montessori which I had put as my back up. I love their program and this fall they will be moving into a brand new, amazing, facility. In my heart I know Geiger will be just as wonderful and Lyla will love it but it has been a very difficult decision as we were very invested in Annie Wright and Lyla loves it there already. Needless to say someone has to get a check today and I think it is going to be Geiger. What a day. Honestly, I have been sick about it for weeks. I just want to make the right choice for Lyla and for Danny and I.

Recovery

After such a full weekend all we wanted to do was relax. I was actually sore which seems silly but when you are cleaning like a mad woman for a week straight some how I used body parts I apparently hadn't used for a while. Lyla was pretty exhausted herself. Here she is lounging in her new chair mommy and daddy got her for her birthday. This is going to be her camping chair this summer. Even has an umbrella that attaches to it. Gotta love pottery barn.

Lyla's 3rd Birthday - And the Party Begins

As you can imagine I took a million pics so these are just a few but as you can tell from these it was an amazing birthday and Lyla couldn't have been happier. As for me I am soooooo thankful to have had all my closest friends and family there to support us. It truly was a very special day.

Lyla's 3rd Birthday - Food is Ready

The menu for the big day was make your own pizza's. My mom and I spent the entire morning rolling out dough and pre-baking the crust. It ended up being a huge hit but lots of prep involved. We also had three different salads; a green, a spinich and a cesear. For drinks we had of course beer and wine but I also make my famous Sangria and lemonade. Everything was delicious!

Lyla's 3rd Birthday - Party Prep

This year for Lyla's 3rd Birthday (I can't believe we are already celebrating a 3rd birthday by the way) we had a "Dino"mite Theme. Lyla is in love with dinosaurs (and spiderman, I know I have a strange child but those are the things I love about her most). Of course being the person and mother I am we went all out. We had a Dino Egg Hunt and an Archeological Dig. Lyla loved it and couldn't stop talking about all the decorations and games all week before.

Facing Painting at the Market

Yesterday was the 6th Ave Market so Lyla and I decided to walk over and check out all the fun things going on. I was surprised when Lyla gravitated towards the face painting booth. There was quite a line of children but that didn't seem to phase her. We waited and before you know it she was sitting there perfectly still getting her face painted. I am pretty sure when she wakes up this morning and realizes it is gone she is going to be pretty bummed but at least I have a few snaps I can show her later today.

Saturday with the Sounders

Saturday Danny and I ventured out together to meet Katie and Damien at the Seattle Sounder's Game. We took the bus up and arrived a couple hours early which was great on so many levels. 1. We weren't fighting about where we were going. 2. We weren't fighting about where to park. and 3. We actually got to experience being a super fan (especially since neither of us had ever been to a game before). We were able to watch the Sound Wave Band play and march and we were able to see the ECS (Emerald City Supporters) parade into Century Link...and of course we got to have a drink at one of the local billards before heading in. We had a blast and were super excited when Katie and Damien finally joined us (they had a wedding to attend before the game so they met us there). What a fun night! Sadly the Sounders lost but I still felt like we won. Thank you Damien and Katie for inviting us!

Shopping for Soil

A simple trip to Home Depot turned out to be an opportunity for a nap. Well a pretend nap. Just shows how silly our little one is. Next step will be taking that soil and planting our garden. We are determined to pay attention to it this year.

Ladies Day at the Zoo

Sunday morning Lyla and I decided with it being such a beautiful day we would go to the zoo. As always we had a wonderful time and it was fun to have a little girl time together. We didn't make it through the whole zoo this time but we did finally buy a membership so I see many, many, many more trips in our future.
