Another clip just because

Had to share just one more. This was taken before the last. She is pretty darn adorable if I don't say so myself.

More of "I can do it myself"

Finally caught Lyla standing on video. She is a little to comfortable standing on her own I think...starting to make momma a nervous.

Trouble

We have hit a whole new world this week. That is the world of "T-R-O-U-B-L-E." Lyla has no fear and she is getting into everything! She is also, as I posted last, standing which brings a whole new world of trouble because the sturdest objects aren't exactly with in reach so she likes to hold herself up on things like the laundry basket or her car seat both of which could tip over at a moments notice. Not to mention the likelihood that she is just going to fall because her balance isn't the best and she'll hit her head or worse smash her teeth again (which by the way we think there are is another set coming in on top...poor girl). All these things pretty much leave me on the edge of my seat all the time. This morning the object of balance was Dad (thankfully he is a little safer...well sort of). And she was using him to get behind the bed to the window's ledge to grab the water bottle. Here are a couple picks of her in action. I love the look "What? I am not doing anything." She is a charater.

Because there aren't enough pictures of Lyla in this world

Here are just a few snaps of Lyla and I playing around this afternoon. She loves to chase me while I have the camera. I have more snaps of her face close up then anything else but I did manage to catch these fun ones. What a cheese! The windows by our bed get the best light in the afternoon. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Lyla is standing

I wasn't able to capture a snap of this yesterday afternoon but Lyla is standing! She is actually pulling herself off the floor and standing. Yikes! We are in for trouble! She is already on the move and you put legs behind that movement there is going to be no stopping her. It seems this month has been the month for development. It is like each week, day, minute there is something new. What did we get ourselves into! ;)

And Baby Makes Three

I have been dying to read this book, "And Baby Makes Three" by John Gottman and Julie Schwartz Gottman. I am not sure when I first heard about it or who told me but when I did I knew it was something I should read. I have been reading all sorts of books about Lyla. What to expect when I was expecting, what to expect after and everything in between but I hadn't really thought about Danny and I. Relationships are hard enough without putting a baby between the two of you. Thankfully Danny and I have been doing pretty well but we definitely have our days and this is definitely a reminder that we could be doing better. Once becoming a mom the last thing I thought about was being a wife. I mean Lyla's needs come first. She isn't a phone call or email to be ignored or a appointment to be rescheduled. She needs constant care. Before having her I use to say "We have to make time for us... We have to make dates..." but all that seemed to go out the window when she finally got here. I mean she is wonderful. I don't want to ever leave her. I don't think either of us do. Never the less after adding this book to my christmas wishlist this year I finally got it from my parents and was finally able to dive in yesterday when I was home sick. I am only at the beginning and I have a feeling most of the stuff I am going to read I already know but I think it is going to be a good reminder. Definitely something to think about.

Tooth No. 6

And life keeps on changing.... Today I found Lyla's sixth tooth. I didn't even know it was coming in. Crazy! Lyla also ventured from the living room today. I knew the day would come but who would have thought she'd be so adventurous so quickly. Not only did she leave the living room but she both went into the kitchen and headed for the stairs (just before Daddy snatched her up of course). It looks like our baby proofing couldn't be happening fast enough. This chicka is on the move!

Welcome to the world of Lyla

I feel like this video captures the complete essence of Lyla. She is silly, loud & a total squirmer. You can't help but smile and we just love that about her. Enjoy.

Three New teeth Unveiled!

It took me a bit but I finally got a snap of those three new teeth and of course along the way a few other fun ones. I made them black and white because the lighting wasn't the best. Still a little dark out there. Can't wait until spring. I know Lyla can't either because she loves the outdoors and Danny can't wait because he is dying to start really skiing. I am just ready for some sunshine. I am sure you all feel the same way.

No New Photos but Lots Happening

As i've said several times already and plan to say several times more Lyla is changing so fast. SO FAST. Just over this last weekend she got three new teeth. THREE NEW TEETH! She also learned how to really use those legs of hers. She isn't crawling at full speed yet but she is moving. And she is obsessed with everything she shouldn't be like wires and remotes and no isn't really in her vocab just yet. So when I say it she just looks at me smiles and gives me that gaze like we are playing a game right. And one more thing...she has really found her lungs. When I say really I mean she sings, talks and yells. She completely takes after her father. Busy and loud. Her fav word these days is Wow. Let me just say FUNNY. I am hoping to get some new photos soon especially of those new teeth but they are pretty hard to spot since they are on top and she isn't keen on us looking at them. Oh and one more thing, like I couldn't say enough. Today she had her first mobile boo-boo. She fell on the hard tile floor at daycare teeth first. No real damage but from what I can see slight bruising on one of her new teeth and apparently a little blood on impact. I am glad I wasn't there because I was devestated when I heard I can only imagine how I would have done if I was there. Probably crying right along side her. Each day is going to be a new adventure and many more bruises to come.

Birthday Party Obsessed

So I love planning parties. I love designing the invites. I love decorating. I even love making the food and of course the cocktails. With holidays always being with a set family member I don't get to entertain as much as I would like so now that we have Lyla I am in super planning mode. From now on birthdays are going to be solely mine. I can go totally over the top because she is my daughter and I love, love, love that! Of course it probably won't last. Eventually she will have ideas of her own and my birthday party planning days will be numbered. But at least for this first one I have so many ideas. Lyla's 1st birthday is less then five months away. That may seem like a long time but it is not. I have been scrolling thru endless sites and this is some of the inspiration I've found. As you might have guessed I am thinking pink. For all of you that know me you are probably shaking your heads but I am really starting to love the color. I still have issues with Lyla wearing it but for a party I think it will be perfect. It might be a few months from now but be on the look out for your invite. It is going to be fun!

Everything is changing

After bath time we got into our pjs and played. It is amazing how each day is different and how much Lyla changes. She really is a miracle and I feel blessed to be able to experience this and to see her develop at each stage. Needless to say I think it might be time to lower the crib. It won't be long and this little bug is going to be playing her escape.

Bath Time

Now I know my dad (Grandpa) is over there right now saying "no nude pictures, there are creepers out there" but this is a must share. And all the girly parts are covered I promise. Lyla is changing so fast and sitting in the bath is a mile stone all in itself. Of course she isn't to a point where you can leave her alone (that moment won't be here for quite a while) but she is pretty sturdy just the same and even playing. Bath time is definitely changing in the Savage household and what a cool thing it is.

More Photos just because...

This morning we were playing around so I decided to take a couple snaps. Lyla has so many expressions. So many thoughts. At this moment I think she mostly just wanted to the camera but still cute :)

12 Days of Christmas Collection Complete

The final piece of our design challenge is done and the collection is complete. It was a fun process for Sara and I, so fun that we have started the new year with a new challenge...which is...We want to do this everyday. They won't always be to this extent and they won't always be illustrations. We just want to take 15-20 minutes everyday and 'stretch.' Sara has taken upon herself to document these stretches (we are actually calling them designfarts) to a blog. We've already completed a new challenge today. You'll have to take a look! :) Fun. Fun.

Lyla Claps!

There are some moments that are just amazing. For some reason this moment really hit me. Lyla clapped. I still get teary eyed each time she does it. She is changing so much. You can just see her trying to mimic and repeat everything everyone is doing. It is truly amazing.
