Grandpa Stajgr and Dad waterskied Sunday and we pretty much think they are crazy but every christmas there they are trying to prove they are the most manly (or something). The water was just about freezing and the air was definitely about the same but the boys got out their skis and hit the water. Us girls stayed in the comforts of the boat which was cold enough. BURRR!
Christmas day was spent (as tradition goes) at Great Grandma and Grandpa Stajgrs house. We put on our finest and headed over about 1pm. We were a little late but it worked out. Lyla was perfect. And we got several great shots of our new little family which was important to me. It was a very special day.
We woke up bright and early (and very tired with only a few hours of sleep after arriving there around 1am) at Grandma and Grandpa Stajgrs house. Lyla I think knew that there was something special to wake up for and she was right. Santa had visited and so had Grandma and Grandpa. There were tons of toys. Lyla had fun of course chewing on the wrapping and playing with everyone elses gifts but it was fun to wake up all together and celebrate Lyla's First Christmas. 
Christmas Eve is always spent with the Savage clan. Each year it can be a little different on how much time we have with them (depending on if Danny works or not) but that is our day here at home just the same. We started out the morning at the Aunt Alicia, Uncle Tyler, Cousins Wriley, Ruby and Ella's house. It was a quick visit since this year was one of the years Danny had to work but it was fun to come over in our pjs and exchange presents so early in the morning. For the rest of the day Lyla and I just hung out at the house and packed for the weekend preparing for the trip down north. In the evening we headed as a family to Great Grandma Savages for dinner and then finished off the night at Great Grandma Rose's before driving south. We had a blast and Lyla had a lot of fun.
With Sara out of the office our little design challenge has become incomplete but all the same I felt it best to end with the 12th day of Christmas either way. Hopefully by the new year day 11 will appear to finish us off :) They were definitely getting harder. I love Sara's interpretation of Nine Ladies Dancing...fun stuff.
First of all I have to begin with an "I am so sorry Jordan, I know this was meant for Christmas" comment because Lyla dove right into her first christmas present already. How she knew it was for her is beyond me but when I turned my head for a moment she had already dived it. And since the ribbon was half undone I thought might as well left her see what is inside. She loved it. Of course everything went in the mouth. Thank you for being so sweet to us. We love having you in our lives!
Saturday night Danny and I hosted a Engagement party for my dear friend Jordan and her fiance Adam. Seeings that Jordan is an entertaining goddess I was stressed to make this event perfect knowing very well I could never top anything she would put together (I still tried). Now the guest list was quite a bit bigger then anything I had ever hosted before so we leaned heavily on Costco for the goodies although I did make a few things myself. The menu consisted of BBQ Chicken Scewers, Meatballs, Tomato Alfredo Ravioli, Veggies, Bruschetta, Custard filled pastry shells topped with Raspberries and Fudge Chocolate Cupcakes. For the beverages we asked all the guest to bring two bottles of their favorite wine. One to share and one for the couple. And of course we had water and lemonade for the non-drinkers. It took some work but I think everything came together just in time for the big night.
