Blackberry Pie
So as I mentioned in my early posts from the weekend we did some serious berry picking this weekend. It is the season for blackberries and Skiview was overflowing. I got so many I was able to make two pies last night and I have to say (eventhough we had to wait up a little late to eat it) they were DELICIOUS!!! Maybe not as good as my mom makes but pretty good. I have to confess I bought the crust. A true baker would have it made it themselves but then they wouldn't have looked this pretty. I still think I have some learning to go the pie was pretty messy when we cut in to it but who cares when it is steaming hot and you have a big scoop of vaniella ice cream next to it. YUM!
Say Cheese!
Last night Lyla learned all about saying "Cheese!" and not the kind you eat. She learned it in the kind of way that we all learn it when we are "Cheesing" for a photograph. Not only did she learn how to cheese for the picture but she learned the word as well. Pretty comical. The funniest part is Daddy was the one trying to get the picture for his new phone and it was me she would cheese to. Needless to say I got a few funny snaps :)

Aunt Alicia's Birthday BBQ
As if Sunday wasn't full enough. After visiting Grandma and Grandpa Stajgr we headed out to Rainier Lake (luckily from Tumwater it was a short trip). Everyone was there. Of course Lyla was most interested in playing some more with her cousins but she also got to she her Great Grandma Rose and Great Grandma Savage as well as Grandpa and Grandma Savage. A full family day. The kids had a blast (and so did the adults) playing on the trampoline...running around...riding bikes...riding around on the golf cart...riding around on the scooter...basically anything our hearts desire. We left pretty late so we are all dragging this morning. What a great weekend!
Visiting Grandma and Grandpa Stajgr
Sunday...we headed out to Tumwater pretty early to see Grandma and Grandpa Stajgr. They were in town for a waterski tournament at Skiview. Since they were so close we had to make sure we made a visit. Lyla I know loved seeing her Grandma and Grandpa and I know they loved seeing her. I actually think she was a good luck charm for Grandpa. He got 3.5 and 4 at 38off. Pretty exciting. We also picked a ton of blackberries. Be on watch...I am going to try my hand at blackberry pie this week. I have enough for two so I hope they are good. I got the inside scoop from my mom. After our visit there we headed to Rainier Lake for Aunt Alicia's birthday BBQ...
Quite a Weekend
Friday Lyla was plague with a fever. Not sure where it came from but it pretty much took her out. We spent the entire day lounging and cuddling. She didn't want to go anywhere with out Mommy (which I have to admit is a wonderful feeling) but Saturday she was back to her old self. So strange. We had a full day planned...trying to get some end of Summer organizing done...but Danny ended up being called in to work so we weren't able to do much. Lyla and I (because she was dying to get out of the house) headed over to her Aunt Alicia, Uncle Tyler, and Cousins Wriley, Ruby and Ella's house with Grandma Savage to help them pickle pickles. I don't think we were much help but we watched and played. It was a lot of fun and Lyla just loves her cousins as you can see here. Sunday....

Mother Daughter Date
Today Lyla and I had a little Mother Daughter Date. Daddy had a ref seminar he had to help with so it was just us girls. First thing we did was head to the Point Defiance Zoo. Thankfully we beat the rush. We got there just as the gates were opening. We had a blast seeing all the animals and playing with all the toys. We even got to see the two new baby tigers and the walruses being fed. It was very fun. After the crowds started rolling in and we had visited all the animals we head over to Owen beach to throw rocks. Of course instantly Lyla fell in the water so now we are back home getting a new pair of clothes (and Lyla is napping). As soon as she wakes up we are going to head back out and visit mommy's bff Jordan at Varsity for Lunch. Yeah for a girls day.

Dinner Date
Wednesday afternoon after work Lyla and I (Danny met us after he got home) went over to Aunt Jordan's and Adam's house for dinner. We always have such an amazing time and Jordan is the master chef so the food is always to die for. This night for some reasons seemed extra special and extra delicious and we all had a blast. When we first got there we sat outside and had appetizers (Lyla really got in on the action there...gotta love brie and grapes). As I've mentioned before Adam and Jordan live right on the Highlands Golf course so it is fun to see all the golfers go by. And for this visit Danny managed to stay out of the pond. For dinner we headed in doors. We had flank steak, roasted potatoes and grilled corn on the cob. It was all AMAZING! After dinner we played Apples to Apples. It was our first time playing and we were hooked. So hooked in fact that we didn't realize it was midnight when we finally got up to leave. Needless to say the best night. Thank you two as always for a wonderful time. Next time our house! :)
