Well after many, many, many months of staring at the fabric purchased for the curtains, bumper and crib skirt I finally finished them. Of course like any perfectionist I feel it is full of flaws but I have to remind myself I am not my mom (the sewer extrodinair...I wish I were) and this is really my first time attempt at anything like this. We still have a little more work to go. I have to finish organizing everything and we are waiting on the chair which was purchased from Macys last week. It will be delivered next Saturday but the blinds are up, bedding is done, all major pieces have been purchased. I had a few more hopes and dreams for this room but for now I think they might have to wait. All in all I feel it is coming together pretty well and I am pleased. Thursday, May 7, 2009

PUPPPs Cured!
For those of you that have never heard of PUPPPs it is...
Pruritic Uticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy, a benign, severely itchy and painful skin rash, that occurs in one out of 240 pregnancies and leaves the expectant mother in despair for relief.
PUPPP, as some women describe the rash, in a comparison to a feeling of poison oak and chicken pox, generally begins around the abdomen or thighs and can spread over the entire body except for the face, neck and hands. It has the appearance of bumpy, itchy papules that eventually spread to take on the appearance of reddened, scalded skin with welts. It generally feels worse at night and often causes sleep loss due to the intense itch. PUPPP goes away after giving birth.
Needless to say I am one of the cursed or was...amazingly enough after much research I think I found a solution. I say I think because I am not completely positive it won't come back. Being the good listener I am, I did what my doctor told me but because they were not hopeful and said that the only real cure was giving birth I began searching for an alternative. I still have several weeks to go before our little girl will be ready and PUPPPs really is like chicken pox at its worst....when you throw pregnancy in the mix...UGG!!!...needless to say I was beginning to be a not so pleasant person to be around. Now this is going to sound weird but I started taking Dandelion. I read many rave reviews online of pregnant woman that swore by it so I tried it for myself and amazingly enough just like they said after about a week my rash was gone. I still have a few marks (almost scare like but I know they aren't) but no itch! No swelling! No rash! It is a miracle! Now I can't say that it was just the dandelion that cured it. I was also using a cream and antihistimin prescribed by the doctor. I'd been using those for a few days before starting up with the Dandelion. At that time they were only subduing the problem not curing it but I can't say the combination isn't what did it. All I can say is "ladies, if you ever happen to get this go to the homepathic section and buy yourself some dandelion!" I am a believer.

Great Baby Book for the Modern Gal

I had to share this great find. I found it on Esty.com. For those of you that have not visited this site it is a must. Tons of great things created by artists around the world. Before finding this baby book I had already purchased several silk-screens and letterpress prints for our home. Anyway...this book is perfect for the modern gal. I just received mine in the mail Saturday and it is gorgeous. So much better then the ones you find in the baby stores. I can't wait to start filling it out. Just a few weeks ago I sat down and read the book my mom put together for me as a baby and it was soooooo amazing to be able to look back and see how I had grown and developed. I just hope I can stay on top of it for my daughter so years and years from now our little girl will be able to do the same thing. Check it out!

Baby Shower No. 2

My second shower was hosted by my dear friends Jordan and Lisa. It was Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Tacoma Golf and Country Club. It was just WONDERFUL! The girls really went up and beyond. It was decorated to the hill, one long table, outside on a the patio, over looking the lake...sadly it didn't end up being the warmest day but true to Heather fashion we toughed it out. We did head in doors to open presents. Rain or shin it was beautiful and I have to thank all the ladies that made it out and made it super special. I loved it.
Baby Shower No. 1

Growing up in one area code and then living in another makes it hard to gather all at once so I was blessed with four wonderful people to host two seperate showers for me and my little girl...one down south and one up north. My first was Saturday, April 4, 2009 hosted by my Aunt Diane and my cousin Megan. It was amazing! They really went all out for me. The food was fantastic. The company couldn't have been better. It was at my Aunt's home in Hazel Dell. Everyone guessed how big around I was and amazingly enough no one got it right but several were VERY close. All mentioned how I was carring which worried me...they all think I look like I am carring a boy. Let's hope this wives tale is false. We received tons of amazing gifts. Everyone really showered us with their love. Sadly I didn't get to many pictures but here are a couple.

Oops. A bubble gum baby room.
When choosing a paint color be cautious of the pinks. Danny and I spent a lot of time infront of the paint samples at home depot. I had picked a cream but Danny had his heart set on color for our little girls room...since I wasn't really set on anything we settled on a lighter version of a pink in the fabric I was using for the crib bedding. When we got home and start in we were amazed at how bright it was. We got all the walls covered and started to wonder what we got ourselves into....it was bubble gum pink! We went to bed that night staring at the glowing room....literally...even with all the lights off the room was giving off a light of its own. The next morning we went straight back to home depot and opted for the cream which is what we stayed with. Sadly we had to prime the walls again and start fresh. There is still much work to be done but what an experience we had. Never again will we mess with the power of pink.
Worse Winter Yet!

We made it through but this has got to be the worst winter we've experienced in our home let alone in my life. The snow was still falling April 1st! Crazy! Sadly we didn't get to enjoy to much of it with me being prego and clutzy. We went for a few walks and I made sure to hold on to Danny tight. Luckily I made it with out any accidents. We are looking forward to the sun.
